This week we have marked Mental Health Awareness week with a programme of activities including, discussions in form time to raise awareness of mental health issues and how we can take action to support ourselves and others.
We also welcomed an external speaker, Cecila, who spoke to students about how her own diagnosis of autism has shaped her journey through life, from the support she received during school to now mentoring others in her role as a librarian. She highlighted her top tips for navigating through life and the challenges she faces along the way. We concluded the week with recognition of resilience, respect, kindness and positive mindset with certificates for pupils in the reward assembly. On Wednesday pupils and staff came to school wearing green clothes to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.
Cecilia is a student that one of our TAs previously worked with when she was at Fallibroome high school. She was her 1-1 for several years and it was always assumed that Cecilia wouldn't be able to achieve her dream of becoming a Librarian.
However with lots of hard work and determination she has achieved her dream and now has her dream job in Manchester after gaining GCSEs, A levels and a degree at university.
