Following the coming-of-age comedy-drama, pupils had the unique opportunity to take part in a live Q&A with the film's director, George Jaques, and lead actress Bella Ramsey. They asked thoughtful and insightful questions about the creative process behind the film, gaining first-hand knowledge of storytelling, directing, acting, and the journey of bringing a screenplay to life on the big screen.
The BFI is the UK's lead organisation for film and the moving image, dedicated to promoting film culture, preserving Britain's film heritage, and supporting the next generation of filmmakers. Visiting such an iconic venue gave pupils a valuable opportunity to experience the film industry beyond the classroom.
Experiences like this help pupils deepen their understanding of film and media by connecting classroom learning with real-world creative careers. Hearing directly from industry professionals encouraged them to think critically about filmmaking, inspired their own creative ambitions, and highlighted the collaboration, creativity, and resilience required to produce a feature film.
