Throughout the week, students were encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas and discover the wonders of science through a variety of engaging activities. One of the highlights was our “Astronaut for a Day” experience, where students immersed themselves in space exploration using virtual reality. Through this experience, they travelled to each of the planets in our solar system, learning fascinating facts about their weather conditions, seasons, speeds and the length of their days.
The activity sparked many thoughtful questions and conversations as students explored the vastness of space and satisfied their natural curiosity about the universe.
Students also took part in a science-themed scavenger hunt around the school, searching for clues and facts to complete their challenge. Along the way, they discovered curiosity-inspiring information about famous scientists such as Isaac Newton and Marie Curie, learning about their discoveries and the impact they have had on the world of science.
Another unforgettable highlight of the week has been watching our chicks hatch in the science room. Students waited patiently to meet the chicks inside the eggs and were eggstatic when they finally began to hatch. Since then, students have shown wonderful care and responsibility, helping to clean the chicks’ enclosure and ensuring they are well fed. It has been fantastic to see such kindness and enthusiasm from our students. Overall, British Science Week at Olsen House has been a major success, filled with curiosity, discovery and memorable scientific experiences for everyone involved.
