Year 7 Investigates The Digestive System

Tuesday, 20th October 2026, 14:40

Our Year 7 scientists got hands-on with the digestive system by creating a real-life model of how food travels through the body! Students explored the different stages of digestion, discovering how food is broken down, nutrients are absorbed and waste is produced. The highlight of the lesson was recreating the final stages of digestion by making their very own model poo! A fun, memorable and slightly messy way to bring human biology to life!

To deepen their understanding, students recreated each stage of the digestive process, helping them visualise what happens to food from the moment it is eaten to the final stages of digestion. The highlight of the lesson was undoubtedly the opportunity to model the body's waste removal process by creating their very own “model poo”! 💩 While slightly messy, this fun and memorable activity helped reinforce key scientific concepts in an engaging and unforgettable way.

A fantastic lesson that combined creativity, practical learning and plenty of laughter while developing a deeper understanding of how the human digestive system works.
