Life Skills Day

Wednesday, 7th October 2026, 08:24

During our recent Life Skills day, learners stepped beyond the classroom and into the real world as they planned and completed a journey to Liverpool. Using bus and ferry timetables, they worked together to make decisions, solve problems and manage their time effectively while travelling independently. From navigating to Queen Square Bus Station to successfully organising their return journey, the day was packed with opportunities to build confidence, teamwork and practical life skills.

The Life Skills day provided learners with a valuable opportunity to develop and practise practical skills in a real-world setting. Learners worked together to plan and complete a journey to Liverpool, using bus and ferry timetables to develop their travel planning, time management, teamwork, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills. They successfully navigated to Queen Square Bus Station, completed the planned activities and organised their return journey to Crosby. The experience encouraged greater independence and confidence, while allowing learners to apply classroom learning to a genuine community situation.
